Have a situation where I am getting fuel to carb, good compression and good spark but scooter still will not start. Cranks fine when battery is charged. There seems to be a short somewhere because my battery keeps dying.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
David

Turns out it was a fouled plug. That explains why I had some spark...
Still have not found the short yet Sad

The 6V electrical system does really suck. In old machines the alternator doesn't make as much power as it used to, so often it'll take all the power it can make just to run the motor and lights and the battery doesn't get charged at all. On my Beluga I could charge up the battery and it would electric start, but in normal use the battery would lose charge and the scooter didn't have the juice to charge it up.
