Welcome to the site! Your scoot looks great. Those YAMAMA stickers are funny Laughing

I would get new mirrors (atleast one) on their pretty soon. It's kinda unsafe not to have them.

How does the scooter run? You're scooter appears to be an 85 model year, which means it should do 45mph if it's running good. It might be kinda gummed up from sitting though.

Seems to run pretty well, but without license/title I'm afraid of taking it anywhere to really open 'er up. I was cruising around at 10-15 around my neighborhood before I realized I should probably put it away before I got carried away.

We had to lay it on its side to transport it, and I put it on a plastic sheet just in case. When I took it out, there were a couple of dollops of pretty gummy gasoline, but after a little driving around the block it seems to be running much smoother.

I did actually get a left-hand mirror included with the purchase, but the glass has been broken out of it, so not much good there. I'm going to look into buying some generic mirrors or maybe temporarily sticking a small store-bought mirror onto the glass-less post just to have SOMETHING if I need to wait for parts to come in.

I realize too, on closer inspection, that there's an oakley sunglasses vinyl decal (barely raised off the surface) on one side panel, painted over. So someone had it repainted (and I would have guessed by a pro, the paint job is definitely solid) but botched the "YAMAMA" part and also didn't sand off the stickers before painting.

Howdy,

New here. Just paid for a 1983 CV80 tonight, hoping to pick it up tomorrow. It seems to have some electrical gremlins, as the previous owner said it only runs good when the ground wire is touched to the frame or something. It's missing the center panel that covers the engine & it's currently sporting a screwdriver for a key in the ignition switch. But it runs, so I'm happy about that.

Cool to see there's a few other members from Iowa, dunno if they're still around, but if they are & want to ever meet up, I'm in Cedar Rapids.

I actually bought the scooter b/c a friend of mine & some of his friends want to do a scooter ride across the state of Iowa, with only $100 cash to get you to the other side.

This isn't my first two wheeled endeavor, as I currently ride a Yamaha 1990 XT600E dual sport motorcycle.

I've already started pouring over all the info I can find here in hopes of getting this thing running in tip top shape.

So, that's a little about me, look forward to learning some more about this scooter.

Thanks,

-JOsh

Here's a picture of my new steed, halfway torn apart to figure out why it wouldn't run right. Turned out to be a simple fix, now I just need to obtain an ignition key/switch.

Greetings from Ottawa Ontario.
I have an 82 CV 80.
Needs some attention to get it up to snuff.
Perhaps with a bit of advice from here I will be getting it up and running.

Regards!

Some newer pics, after I got it running.

Now I'm waiting for the ignition and title paperwork. Might be a bit of fun trying to get it titled as the previous owner never had a title for it.

First, you'll need a place to host your photos. Photobucket is a popular, free service. Once you've got your photos hosted somewhere, you need to get the url location of the image. I know photobucket has a 'direct link' for the picture. use that address and put an {img} in front of it, replacing { with [, and {/img}, again, replacing the { with [ (I had to use { or else the forum would think I was trying to post an image, which I'm not)
for example:

Hello I just bought an '82 Beluga which I plan to get running . The previous owner had it running in '05 but it has been garaged since then , so first thing is cleaning the fuel system , dismantling the carb , and a bit of TLC all around . I'll post some pics shortly .
Cheers , George .

Hello from Germany, everyone. My name is Travis. I'm an American expatriate living in Berlin. I'm also the proud new owner of a 1987 Hercules CV50 (which after serious digging I've determined is the same as the Riva 80, right?). This is my first scooter and first carborated engine. I'm sure I'll be asking tons of questions and I'm super thankful to Dan (?) for setting up this forum as a source of information. Vielen Dank!

Prost,
Travis
