Hi I just found this forum the other day and wanted to show you my 1983 CV80 with just over 2,760miles. I have been using this every now and then since I was 16 when I got it from my grandpa who bough it with only 200miles on it in the early 90's

I'm from Davenport IA http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=davenport+ia&ie=UTF8&z=12&iwloc=addr.

I'm a bit of a bigger guy (240lbs) so 40mph is about that best she can do. I like some of the performance ideas on here, not sure how many I will try. So far I think my list will include the weights in the trans if the ligher ones get a good report on here and making som low wattage blinkers because mine almost never work unless the batt is brand new. I may look for some LED lights for the blinkers.

40mph is good for any early model CV80 (like yours) that lacked the expansion chamber pipe and other upgrades. Mine only did 35-40mph in it's stock form.

About the roller weights, I'm going to be installing some even lighter weights tomorrow so I'll take a bunch of pictures and write up a how-to guide then. This should be a very effective mod given the right weights.

Yeah that will be cool to know how that works for you! I like the idea of an easy mod and one that is easy to get parts for, some of the other ones with the carb and exhaust sound like a bit work. So I think I will stick with starting off easy, plus I'm not sure if the belt has ever been check so it would be a good idea for me to open that up anyways.

Dana took ill and is presently in the hospital.
He asked me to go though his emails and let people know he will be out for a week or so.
Thank you.

Ames is about 200miles away from Davenport. Funny thing is I went to school in Ames....never did see any scooters running around in my time in ames though.

My name is Joe, I am from Grand Rapids Michigan, I have a CV80 when I was 15, registered it as a 50cc and regret getting rid of it, I just got a beat up on that I am starting to restore.
